Phillip McMullen, M.D., Ph.D., a Thoracic and Surgical Pathology Fellow in the laboratory of John Alverdy, has been awarded the Duchossois Family Institute Fellowship Grant for his project, “The Role of the Gut-Lung Axis in the Profession of Chronic Lung Disease and Chronic Rejection in Lung Transplant Patients.” This $125,000 grant is awarded to clinical fellows whose research focuses on the impact of the microbiome and/or the immune system on clinical outcomes in patients receiving care at the University of Chicago.
