Bidisha Barat, PhD, will join the Duchossois Family Institute as the Microbiology Platform Director On March 28, 2022. Bidisha earned a doctorate in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech, then joined the National Institutes of Health as a postdoctoral visiting fellow. At the DFI, Bidisha will oversee the Symbiotic Commensal Strain Bank, which houses over 2000 bacterial strains, isolated from healthy human fecal donors, that have been anaerobically cultured and characterized.
